Metafas | smart thinking in printed electronics

Innovate and improve constant focus

Metafas has a lot of (production) knowledge and experience with screen printing of conductive inks on flexible substrates, and as a result we have been at the origin of many Printed Electronics innovations. Since 2022, the focus has been on Smart Textile, Smart Plastics and Smart Packaging. Metafas has also developed from build-to-print to full service product development and production and we can support you from TRL 4 level with developing, prototyping, testing, industrializing and scaling up to series production of your printed electronics application.

With our fast sheet-to-sheet process we can make small to large products (up to 1,000 mm) very competitively, in both low (protos) and high quantities (depending on the size) between 100,000 and 500,000 pieces for you. And this does not stop with a substrate with printed electronics, but we also offer options for developing and producing connectors, transferring or assembling in the end product, up to and including (with partners) developing the electronics, PCB and software.

Smart packaging

Metafas | smart thinking in printed electronics

In various Smart Packaging projects, Metafas has developed various smart packaging for customers or together with partners, such as the smart blister or the smart cardboard packaging for the PELVIZ project.

Pelvis

From the Southern Netherlands Operational Program, Metafas collaborated with De Budelse and Trackware and jointly founded Pelviz. In this collaboration we have a smart cardboard packaging based on RFID develops. With this technology, packaging can be located (for example in a hospital), stock can be digitally monitored and it can even be determined (point of consumption) when a package is opened.

Smart blister

In collaboration with the Holst center, Metafas has further developed a blister packaging into a commercial product. This pill strip detects when and which pill has been expressed. The time and quantity can be monitored via an app on a smartphone. The patient can receive a message via the same app that the time has come for a pill to be taken.
